Before starting the descent operation, first perform a safety self-check to eliminate potential safety hazards. You can ask your teammates to check for you. The self-check can be carried out according to the following process:
01. Touch the head, check the helmet, and the female team members also check whether the hair is constricted; because if the long hair is not constricted, there will be danger of entanglement in the rope during the descending process.
02. Visually and touch the 8-shaped ring, descender and main lock to check whether they are normal. Including checking the integrity of the rope and equipment, whether there are cracks, whether it is locked, and whether the direction of the descending rope is correct.
03. Visually and touch the belt and leg belt of the seat belt to check whether the seat belt is back buckled. If you can't confirm it, please ask others to assist in the inspection.
04. Visually inspect the whole body for improper finishing, such as external cumbersome objects, improper carrying of backpacks, loose buckles of life jackets, etc.
05. Deal with and check the hidden dangers, and also check whether there are other omissions, such as whether there are items above the fixed points in the past.
06. The high level of decline is not rapid, but steady and uniform. Only a steady descent can reduce the impact on the rope and the fixing system, reduce the amplitude of rope movement, and reduce the probability of rope grinding. It needs to be pointed out again that many inexperienced people take it for granted that a wet rope will be slippery than a dry rope, but the fact is just the opposite. The friction force of the rope in the wet state is much greater than that in the dry state. In some cases, the wet and dry conditions of each section of the same rope are different, which will lead to inconsistent friction during the descent process, which must be prejudged.
